Bill Heisman (Tucson, AZ) Dandy Pattern Spurs

Maker-marked, "Bill Heisman / Tucson, Az / USA” and partially inspired by the iconic G.S. Garcia (Elko) “Dandy” pattern No 75 spurs. Bill has fully mounted both sides extensively, including multiple inlays on the top and bottom of the 1 1/16" bands and 2 3/4" shanks, which support 13-point, 2 3/8" spoked rowels. The artisan’s exquisite obsession with detail is evident in Heisman’s engraved heel chain hangers and distinctive silver buttons on the ends of the chap guards, spur straps and rowel pin covers. Includes “Heisman-made” floral carved two-tone leathers with engraved silver buckles. Unused condition, circa 1990s.

Room-size, Navajo rug. Finely woven, all natural hand-spun wool. A classic Teec Nos Pos geometric pattern consisting of a wide tuning-fork border and a colorful central design filled with geometric components including sixteen arrows. Circa 1915-1925, 113" x 59". Apparent fading on one side.

Iconic silver overlaid unmarked American Eagle California half-breed bit with large floral pattern domed cheek conchos engraved in the Garcia/Figueroa tradition. Bit affixed to a leather headstall mounted with Mexican peso coins alternating with dainty engraved silver hearts. Includes matching Martingale with identical ornamentation.

Large scale miniature chuck wagon by the acclaimed Dale Ford. Impressive 47" long with tongue, 28" long body, and 19" tall to the top of the bows. Decorated Winchester 1873 Rifle

S/N 474080, 3rd Model, .44wcf caliber, 24 inch octagon barrels, original barrel sight with no elevator, original front sight, original dust cover, 1894. Stock is incised with standing buffalo and arrows on one side and stylized man in the sun on the other. The carved in line designs along the length of the forearm and butt stock are accented or decorated with spent percussion caps.
CONDITION: Bore has strong rifling with black powder oxidation the length of the bore, metal surfaces are dark brown with areas of surface oxidation, wood is solid and tight.

Large, Plains Beaded Cradle

Beaded Plains cradle on Native tanned hide. Head and foot boards are fully beaded on fabric and sewn onto hide. The geometric design utilizes pale blue, cobalt, white, translucent red, yellow, black, green and pumpkin beads. Red wool bonnet adorned with larger translucent red and white beads. The upper edge is also trimmed in red wool. Soft hide encases the frame. Fringe attached to the upper and lower edges. 42" long, the width tapers from 16". With custom metal wall hanging support.

Exquisite Contemporary Mario Hanel “1880s California Style” Saddle

Remarkably constructed in the grand tradition of a classic 19th century  San Francisco saddle, (Visalia, L.D. Stone, Main & Winchester ), this absolutely elegant high back, slick fork, square skirted russet colored “work of art” with its long and dramatic tapaderos, is fully and elaborately tooled with lavish floral carving. Saddle is complete with both lovely matching white angora woolly saddle bags and pommel bags.  California’s Mario Hanel is among the premier contemporary leather western craftsmen working today.

Roy Rogers (1911-1998)

Roy Rogers' Personal Nudie's Outfit (left)
One of Roy’s most iconic outfits, and one of his own personal favorites. Custom made for Roy Rogers by Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors of North Hollywood, California. The shirt is a bib front, gabardine, with 3 rows of green leather fringe, flying eagle on the wool plaid bib, longhorns on the collar and 6 snaps on each sleeve. The pants are brown wool, striped with white piping and foot stirrups. The scarf is colorful silk. The hat is Roy’s and bears his classic crease. (belt in photo is not part of lot) There are many photos of Roy in this classic outfit. Included in the lot is a photocopy of a photo of Roy wearing the outfit while doing tricks with his dog Bullet.

Victor Alexander Parade Saddle Set with Keyston Bros. (San Francisco) Silver Mountings

Black, floral carved sterling silver mounted parade saddle with 21" long tapaderos, original black and white wool corona, 14” seat and inset sterling seat-plate stamped, “Victor Alexander - Hayward, Calif.” Saddle is heavily adorned with domed and scalloped Keyston Bros conchos in varying sizes, plus sterling swells caps and exquisitely engraved, fully silvered, heavy gauge 3 1/2" high cantle. Ensemble includes Bridle with Fleming Bit and maker-marked Keyston Bros (San Francisco) silver plus matching Breast Collar. Fine, very ridable condition, circa 1940-42.

Vintage Miniature California Saddle

Circa late 19th century, this lovely and enchanting, floral carved mini-masterwork measures only 14” x 8” and features a decoratively stitched 6 1/2" inlaid full-seat, bold Main & Winchester style California raised floral carving with a restored rich russet vintage patina and a gullet and cantle trimmed with nickel plated brass mountings.  The rawhide strings are twist-braided and 100% original as is everything else except the finish, the wood stirrups and straps that were reconstructed by Bill Heisman, founding member of the Traditional Cowboy Artists and a known stickler for historical detail.  Overall an exceptional piece that would make a worthy addition to the finest miniature or salesman sample saddle collection.

Rex Schnitger (1977-1947) Spurs

A massive pair of double-mounted Wyoming collector spurs with 1" wide Cheyenne split heelbands, each adorned with three of Schnitger's trademark 8-pointed domed buttons. The 3" spiked shanks with 5 angled inlays each with snowflake engraving supporting a stunning, oversized 34-point iron rowels fronted by an exquisitely engraved silver washer repeating the 8-pointed star theme. The straps are newer lined dove wing style with 3" scalloped conchos. A true show-stopper and probably one the best pair of Rex Schnitger spurs to surface at auction in recent memory. Outstanding condition, circa 1930s.

1900s California Headstall with Spade Bit and Braided Rawhide Reins

Photo documented, early California leather headstall, tastefully ornamented with coin silver spots and silver tipped headband attached to each cheek via engraved round and domed period concho. Impressive and ornate California bit (attributed to Hernandez) features floral open center rimmed by silver spots and secured to headstall by adjustable silver hangers with loops. Bit attached to braided rawhide reins with horsehair tassels making this the ultimate vaquero riding package.
